When Zaniya Felder arrived for her day at Ware County Head Start recently, she told her teacher, Ms. Hollmon, that someone special was coming to visit. And a little while later, the class was surprised when none other than Waycross’ own Jimmy Staten, now a defensive tackle for the Seattle Seahawks, paid them a visit. Zaniya is his niece, and he promised her that he would surprise her class and read to them.

Jimmy volunteered in the class, read to the children, and even played a bit of football. He posed for pictures and signed autographs and talked about what it was like to play in the Super Bowl. “How exciting it was for the children to meet a real NFL football player,” stated Shatavia Buck, Center Coordinator. “We appreciate him giving up so much of his free time to spend with the children.”
